Bishop Thomas Dexter (T.D.) Jakes Sr. is founder and senior pastor of The Potter's House, one of America’s fastest growing, non-denominational, mega-churches in Dallas, Texas. Jakes is also the author of many best-selling books and was named “America's Best Preacher” by Time Magazine. Jakes sees himself as a visionary, an entrepreneurial trailblazer, an altruistic philanthropist, as well as a spiritual shepherd to millions around the globe, but his doctrinal diversity is problematic in a number of areas. For example, he emphasizes the issue of victimization without also emphasizing our sin problem and need for a Savior, he teaches and endorses Word Faith concepts relating to guaranteed health and wealth and his teaching on the Trinity includes classic Oneness Pentecostal heresies. Jakes was born on June 9, 1957 and is married to his wife Serita and they have five children.
