Kenneth E. Hagin (20 Aug, 1917 - 19 Sept, 2003) was an influential American Pentecostal preacher and one of the most influential and controversial leaders of Charismatic Christianity. He is often referred to as the father of the Word of Faith movement and claimed the gifts of healing and prophecy. Hagin never received any formal theological training, although he received an honorary doctorate from Oral Roberts University in the 1970s. The Kenneth E. Hagin Evangelistic Association was started 1n 1963 and in 1974 he founded RHEMA Bible Training Center (RBTC), which produced a crop of famous preachers including Kenneth Copeland, Jerry Savelle, Charles Capps, Jesse DuPlantis, Creflo Dollar and many others. Hagin also began a regular radio broadcast that continues today as Faith Seminar of the Air. He died five days after lapsing into a coma due to a heart arrhythmia.
