Joel Osteen is the pastor of America's largest church, Lakewood Church, located in Houston, Texas. Osteen attended Oral Roberts University for a semester, but he chose to return home to continue working at the church. After 17 years of working side-by-side with his father producing the church's television program, he became pastor after the death of his father in 1999. In his own words, Osteen's ministry is focused on helping people reach their potential: "We're all about building people up. We're all about helping people reach their full potential. We don't push some kind of religion". He is also the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller, Your Best Life Now and is planning to release more books. He is married to Victoria, often called co-pastor, and have two children. He is considered to be part of the Word of Faith movement and preaches a prosperity gospel along with practical principles for living.
